About the role

The Graduate Research School (GRS) is the central administration and support unit for higher degree research (HDR) activities at Western Sydney University and is responsible for the candidature administration and scholarship management of approximately 1500 HDR candidates. The GRS leads the development and delivery of university-wide graduate research training and development activities for HDR candidates and supervisors.

We currently have an opportunity for a Director, Graduate Research School to provide strategic operational leadership of the GRS and to drive the University’s graduate research priorities and lead the strategic development and operationalising of new GRS initiatives.

Working directly with the Dean, GRS, you will lead a high-performing team of Professional staff ensuring effective working partnerships with key stakeholders are established and maintained.

You will be instrumental in ensuring effective operations of academic strategies, benchmarking with sector peers (national and international), and liaison with research leadership in Schools and Institutes, ensuring provision of essential high-quality training and development for HDR candidates and their supervisors.

About You

Ideally you will have a relevant postgraduate degree with experience in graduate research training and development. You will have proven experience in successfully developing, leading and managing high-performing teams in a large, complex environment with the ability to set a team vision and develop team goals to meet organisational objectives and services excellence.

You will have superior organisational and project management skills with the ability to link and deliver institutional level strategies with operations, along with highly developed interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on exemplary client service and the ability to develop and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.
