Etheridge Shire Council “The Golden Heart of the Gulf”is a medium sized rural Council that covers a geographical area of 39,000 square kilometres. Mining, Tourism, Beef Cattle and Agriculture are the predominant industries and the driving factor behind the robust economy. An opportunity has arisen for a technical professional to join Council’s Executive Management Team in the role of Director Engineering Services.

Reporting to the CEO and managing a team of up to 35 staff, this challenging role is responsible for the strategic direction and operational management of Council’s works and infrastructure assets and for providing the Shire with high quality construction and maintenance programs for roadworks, bridges and water. You will also contribute to the efficient and effective financial management of the organisation and create and enhance relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

The successful candidate is a tertiary qualified Civil Engineer with extensive senior level experience in civil engineering, road maintenance or construction. REPQ status, or eligibility, will be well regarded, as will previous experience in local government and an understanding of regulations pertaining to National Disaster Reliefand Recovery Arrangement (NDRRA), Road Maintenance Performance Contract (RMPC) and other relevant Acts and Legislation.
