We are seeking an experienced Senior Strategy & Market Analyst to join our CSIRO Land & Water business unit in an exciting, multi-faceted role!

With environmental degradation rapidly increasing across the world, more and more consumers, organisations and decision makers are interested in frameworks and tools to better understand the changes in the world’s environmental/natural assets. In response to this, ‘Nature Positive’ is one of CSIRO’s budding start-ups that delivers solutions for natural capital accounting, Taskforce for Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) reporting, and broader ESG reporting. ‘Nature Positive’ offers three main products:

  • GUIDE: an interactive web-based platform where customers can learn Natural Capital Accounting concepts and/or navigate the myriad of CSIRO and non-CSIRO solutions.
  • LAB:  a facilitated problem-solving session where Nature Positive Team engages customers to their needs, pain points and objectives, and recommend next steps.
  • PLATFORM: a digital application/portal which allows subscribers to access various Nature Positive ‘modules’ (e.g., biodiversity, carbon, water). Each module consists of well-integrated CSIRO solutions.

In this role, you will work cross-functionally with different teams & stakeholders to conduct vital market research and competitor analysis, and identify new opportunities, trends and insights to grow the Nature Positive products and its strategy. This involves reviewing and monitoring of external market environment, competitors and industry intelligence/trends, as well as internal data & performance. This diverse role will see you applying your critical thinking skills, product development domain knowledge and your well-developed market research capabilities & experience to contribute to the project scope, management and delivery of these products, and to the marketing strategy to support decision making. You will also present complex concepts and recommendations to a range of internal & external stakeholders, and successfully engage with customers acting as a trusted advisor.

Your duties will include:

  • Leading market/competitive analysis to identify market opportunities, trends and insights to guide the development of Nature Positive offerings and commercialisation strategy.
  • Collating, understanding, analysing, and synthesising information from disparate sources into detailed, logical, evidence-based insights and conclusions that guide strategy conversations.
  • Communicating complex business, scientific and technical concepts via professional, insightful written reports and succinct presentations.
  • Engaging with prospective customers and coordinating activities related to Nature Positive Lab sessions.
  • Developing financial/business models to support decision making/commercialisation.

Location: Melbourne or Canberra (preferred); Sydney (considered)
Salary: AU$121K – AU$142K pa + up to 15.4% superannuation

To be considered you will need:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as Science, Engineering, Business or Relations, Economics, Finance, or related fields.
  • Minimum 2 years relevant professional experience in top-tier management/strategy consulting/ advisory, internal corporate strategy function, or relevant function of Government department.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to facilitate conversations.
  • Demonstrated experience in using market research and business analysis tools to rapidly source, evaluate, synthesis and analyse a broad range of business, technical and economic data to form relevant business insights.
  • Experience developing and/or applying business analysis and strategic analysis frameworks (i.e., value chain analysis).
  • Ability in generating professional quality reports (PowerPoint and Word) and deliverables that clearly communicate key insights to a senior executive-level audience.
  • Experience in developing financial models to support business decision making.
  • Strong project management and stakeholder management skills in end-to-end project delivery.
