About Us

Alexandrina Council is a thriving community of nearly 27,000 residents covering an area of 1,800 square kilometres on the picturesque Fleurieu Peninsula south of Adelaide. The area is supported by diverse industries including tourism, viticulture, general farming and dairying, fruit production, manufacturing, engineering and boat building. About the role

Alexandrina Council places high priority on delivering programs and services that meet the needs and aspirations of our community. We are looking for someone who shares this ethos. In this newly created role, reporting to the General Manager Growth, the Manager Economic Development will be responsible for developing and implementing Council's Economic Development plans and strategies, and provide effective leadership and guidance to the organisation in the key result areas of economic growth, investment leveraging, tourism and visitor attraction. This is key strategic role that forms part of the Senior Leadership team at Council and has high level interaction with key stakeholders including community members, Government Departments, peak bodies, and non-government agencies.

About You

We seek an outstanding leader with a proven record in developing and implementing strategies to grow regional economies in collaboration with the council, community, private sector, industry bodies and all tiers of government.

Motivated, successful and highly credible, you will develop strategy, drive initiatives, lead a dynamic team and foster innovation and a customer first focus into service delivery. With a demonstrated values based leadership approach and extensive experience, you will be outcome focused with the ability to work broadly across the organisation and manage complex stakeholder relationships. To succeed in this role you will need to have a proven track record in leading the planning, development and implementation of programs, initiatives and services.

You will also have:

• Extensive and developed understanding and influence on the legal, socio-economic and political factors that impact economic growth, investment leveraging and associated economic development portfolios.
• Demonstrated experience in economic growth, investment leveraging, tourism and events, and business development.
• Demonstrated ability to manage financial resources of the department to ensure programs, initiatives and services are adequately and efficiently delivered within budget.
• Proven ability to develop and maintain strategic partnerships and relationships
• High level skills in negotiation and planning, with key stakeholders such as State, regional and local agencies, community groups, consultants and employees
