What you'll be doing

The Centre for Genetics Education is a NSW state-wide education service dedicated to preparing health professionals who are non-genetics trained with the skills and knowledge to manage the impact of genetic and genomic technologies on their practice.  The Director’s role is to lead and implement a state-wide, strategic approach to genetics and genomics education in partnership with other key agencies. As such, the Director manages the Centre for Genetics Education, its staff, resources and programs, provides strategic advice and policy development relating to genetics and genomics education and leadership in promoting appropriate and equitable access to genetics services for the people of NSW through their caring health professional.  

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  1. Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation; Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment. Demonstrates these behaviours with all stakeholders; colleagues, direct reports, as well as our patients and consumers, and those that care for them.
  2. Tertiary qualifications in a health related field/Public Health and Adult Education or evidence of extensive experience in education.
  3. Demonstrated knowledge of genetic and genomic health and the NSW Genetics Service.
  4. Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, reporting and management of complex multi-site education projects and activities to improve health outcomes within available resources.
  5. Demonstrated experience in staff management at a senior level and leadership with excellent interpersonal skills.
  6. Demonstrated ability to negotiate, develop and maintain effective internal and external partnerships.
  7. Demonstrated highly developed written and oral communication skills with capacity to produce comprehensive service and strategic reports
