Chief of Staff

As a member of a high-performing executive team, you will:
- Anticipate the requirements of the CEO and act as a trusted advisor, strategic partner, connector and conduit between Councillors, Executive Management, staff and key external stakeholders.
- Champion Council’s advocacy efforts to improve relationships with government and key stakeholders
- Work with the Councillors to ensure community issues are resolved effectively and efficiently.
- Implement and embed a media relations strategy to profile Council as a progressive and customer centric organisation that delivers value to the community.
- Adopt a whole of organisation approach and be a visible contributor to shaping and driving the performance of our organisation.
We are seeking applications from established, respected leaders who bring:
- Strong ability to generate ideas, problem solve and mediate disputes.
- Strong political nous and an in-depth understanding of how local and state government operates.
- Proven ability to build relationships and connect with a diverse and complex range of stakeholders.
- Proven experience in innovating and improving an organisations media relations approach.
- A spirit of adventure and passion for customers and people.
Qualifications in Public Relations, Media Relations or Government Relations are essential. Post graduate qualifications in management or related field and previous experience and/or knowledge of the Local Government environment is highly desirable.
