On behalf of the Council of the Town of Port Hedland, we invite applications for the position of Chief Executive Officer. Port Hedland is a dynamic and entrepreneurial town in Western Australia’s stunningly beautiful North West. It is home to approximately 15,000 people from a multitude of cultural backgrounds. Council acknowledges that the community of Port Hedland currently faces several challenges. The Strategic Community Plan recognises the need for a greater focus on areas such as economic diversification, the natural environment, and leading, unifying and building a vibrant community.

Council seeks to appoint a CEO who shares this vision and has a deep interest in doing things better; a person who is experienced and energetic; capable of leading a dynamic organisation; and someone who is committed to achieving innovative and sustainable outcomes and delivering community projects.

You should have a strong track record of driving innovation, leading new initiatives, anticipating change and challenges, guiding strategic thought and action, and, most importantly, getting things done. As the official spokesperson for the City’s administration function you will be an effective communicator and motivator of staff at all levels.

The person appointed needs to be committed to Port Hedland, its Council, and the delivery of its strategic plan. The Town puts a high value on transparency, corporate governance, and prudent financial management. Council is interested in considering applicants with senior executive experience in Local Government, other tiers of Government or the private sector.

As a Band 1 Local Government, Council will offer the position on the basis of a contract of employment of up to five years with a total remuneration package inclusive of salary, superannuation, motor vehicle and other benefits in the range of $290,000 to $370,000pa. Additional Regional and Housing allowances may also be offered to attract an outstanding candidate.
