About the opportunity
Reporting to the Head of Diagnostic Imaging, the Senior Lecturer’s primary focus to contribute to the diagnostic imaging team in development, teaching and assessment of the veterinary science curriculum at the Sydney School of Veterinary Science (SSVS), and to provide leadership particularly in equine imaging aspects of the team’s contribution to the School. This will include providing a high quality imaging service to clients of the University Veterinary Teaching Hospitals of the SSVS to generate learning opportunities for residents and veterinary students and supporting the other clinical services within SSVS. To actively contribute to the Faculty’s clinical research programs and to the delivery of high standards of practice within the SSVS imaging team.
Location is Camden campus, with some time spent at Camperdown campus.

- A veterinary degree registrable in NSW
- Experience interpreting conventional radiographs, CT, MRI images, performing outpatient ultrasounds and specialised imaging procedures for other specialists.
- Experience in postgraduate and undergraduate teaching, including curriculum delivery and development.
- Willingness to provide leadership in teaching and clinical service.

The Sydney School of Veterinary Sciences delivers a high quality Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program as well as residencies and postgraduate degree programs in numerous disciplines of veterinary science. The University Veterinary Teaching Hospitals provide the clinical learning experience for DVM students, interns and residents engaged in professional training programs, as part of the provision of professional services to the community and profession. In this context, the person appointed to this position will be involved in the teaching of veterinary diagnostic imaging through class room instruction as well as in conjunction with the delivery of a clinical service in diagnostic imaging, including radiology, ultrasound, CT, MRI and scintigraphy. The appointee will advance the knowledge in this speciality through research, supervision of post-graduate students and other scholarly activity.
The Imaging team operates across the SSVS University Veterinary Teaching Hospitals at Camperdown and Camden campuses. The successful candidate will be based in the Camden Campus and will be focused on equine, small animal and exotics imaging.
The successful candidate will be an active contributor to the Imaging team of the SSVS, with a particular focus to provide leadership of the team’s provision of imaging expertise to the equine clinical unit at the Camden campus. This includes the opportunity to closely collaborate with equine specialists in internal medicine, surgery and sports medicine, and remotely with three imaging specialists, imaging residents and registrars. It also includes the opportunity to collaborate with small animal specialists in medicine, oncology, cardiology, emergency medicine and critical care, anaesthesia, as well as specialists in exotics and pathology.
