  • HEO8 with a remuneration package of $119K to 134K p.a. for 1.0 FTE, which includes basic salary, leave loading and up to 17% super (or pro-rata for the part time positions)

About the opportunity 

Focusing on excellence in student service provision, the counsellor role includes the provision of specialised psychological and wellbeing services using evidence based and best practice strategies. The counsellor role requires participation in building the Service’s profile and its capacity to work strategically, collaboratively and effectively with key stakeholders in prevention, triage, one to one counselling and referral to internal and /or external providers within a stepped care framework.

About you

  • demonstrated expertise in the assessment and treatment of a wide range of biopsychosocial problems
  • commitment to best-practice short-term interventions within a stepped-care wellbeing
  • competency in establishing effective/efficient professional working relationships
  • excellence in communication skills including public speaking, presentation skills and training
  • postgraduate degree in psychology with relevant experience in the higher education system
  • awareness of relevant Acts, ethical and legal requirements for psychological practice
  • registration as a psychologist with AHPRA

Student Support Services assist students’ achievement of educational goals, retention and success at University through personal, financial and instrumental support, and through encouraging development of independence and personal resilience. Student Support Services act as a point of contact for the University and Faculty regarding support for students, dealing with complex student presentations, and for advice regarding policy and procedure developments and the likely impact on student wellbeing.
 
Counselling and Psychological Services (CAPS) focuses on promoting student well-being, and the development of skills required to succeed at university across the student life-cycle. The interventions provided are time-limited and based on recognised stepped care best practice principles. It also works on partnerships and collaborative programs with faculties and other student service providers in order to enhance student wellbeing, success and the overall student experience
