About the opportunity 

This is an exciting role that will help shape the effective secondary and meaningful use of health data in NSW through applied research and development. The successful candidate will work closely with eHealth NSW, the Capital Markets CRC data science team and the University of Sydney’s Research in Implementation Science and eHealth Group.

The role will focus on establishing the organisational, technical and capability requirements of using health data to support clinical decision support, quality improvement for the health system and research across NSW. The role will work with eHealth NSW to investigate the alignment and interaction between state enterprise solutions and local data applications and develop and design a business and systems architecture to support secondary and meaningful use of health data. The candidate will engage with stakeholders to help define the priority use cases and outcomes for data management and analytics in NSW. The candidate will work with industry groups to scope potential solutions and to undertake potential proof of concept projects.

The candidate will collaborate in developing a stream of research and development that contributes to high quality journal articles acceptable to high impact journals and continually seek to develop skills, experience, and research impact, with the objective of becoming a leading expert in the field.

  • PhD in data science or engineering from a leading university
  • Experience in development and/or design of systems and enterprise data architecture
  • Experience in enterprise systems, technologies and platforms that support data analytics and management
  • Experience in data management and informatics
  • Experience in working on large digital health research programs
  • Proven teamwork and relationship building skills including stakeholder management and engagement skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

To be suitable for an Academic Level B or C, Senior Research Fellowship, it is expected that you will have an excellent track record and international recognition for undertaking high quality research.

Our rapidly growing Centre, which specialises in high-end data analytics in finance and health markets, has close ties to leading universities and industry partners in Australia and internationally across four continents.

Research in Implementation Science and eHealth (RISe)

The Research in Implementation Science and eHealth (RISe) Group is a unit within the Faculty of Health Sciences. RISe works at the nexus between practice, behaviour change and service improvement.
RISe is at the forefront of the emerging fields of eHealth and Implementation Science and our primary research emphasis is on the impact of new technologies on clinician and consumer behaviour and outcomes.
RISe works closely with a wide range of organisations, both nationally and internationally, including government departments, health service providers, professional colleges and translational research centres
