What you'll be doing

Provide leadership to the Mental Health Drug & Alcohol and Violence & Neglect Service and be available to support operational managers and team leaders. Act as Director Mental Health Drug & Alcohol in the absence of the incumbent.

Skills and Knowledge

  1. Relevant tertiary qualifications and current registration with a professional body.
  2. Demonstrated knowledge of the legislative requirements that govern mental health service provision and of current state and National mental health policies, and their potential impact at a service level.
  3. Demonstrated experience and high level skills in the provision of mental health, leadership and management including clinical, continuous quality improvement, clinical governance and human resource management.
  4. Demonstrated ability to adhere to the defined standards of ethical and professional conduct consistent with the current NSW Health Code of Conduct and/or relevant professional standards where applicable.
  5. Demonstrated commitment to person centred care, family inclusion, reduction of seclusion and restraint, quality and safety, innovation and the recovery model of care and the ability to instil these in the workplace.
  6. Demonstrated skills in setting priorities, managing time and problem solving.
  7. Demonstrated high level interpersonal communication skills (oral and written)with the capacity to negotiate complex issues with multiple agencies relating to professional, service and clinical problems.
  8. Current unrestricted driver’s licence.
