About Cassowary Coast Regional Council

Cassowary Coast Regional Council is located in the heart of Tropical North Queensland with a diverse economy centered on tourism, agriculture and growing local industries. With access to the Great Barrier Reef, Wet Tropics Rainforest and nearby islands it is an ideal location.

The Council incorporates the centres of Innisfail, Cardwell, Tully, Mission Beach and Hinchinbrook Island and is recognised for its ability to punch above its weight.

The Cassowary Coast region covers an area of 4,702 square km with a population that sits at about 30,000 covering a mix of residential, rural and coastal communities.

Working collaboratively with the Mayor and Councilors, you will draw upon your visionary leadership to engage and respond to the community and continue to build upon the existing programs at Cassowary Coast Regional Council. You will continue to build the reputation of the Council as an innovator with the focus on Council’s 5 Corporate Plan Goals incorporating Customer, Assets, People, Economy and Environment.

About You

You will build and manage trusted relationships with diverse stakeholder groups within the community, all levels of government and the private sector. Furthermore, you will foster continuous improvement efforts across the organisation, supporting the ambitious goal to be recognised as an outstanding employer.

Council is seeking a pragmatic and commercially focused executive leader who is known for their ability to deliver on organisational objectives. With a track record in operational excellence you will have proven experience as a CEO or executive with a demonstrated understanding of the workings of the public sector and ideally Local Government.

You are highly regarded for your ability to foster a high performing innovative culture and for your advanced stakeholder engagement skills. You are renowned for your trusted relationships across government and the private sector and have a proven ability to build transparent and productive relationships. You will bring energy, passion and a commitment to the community.
