News Limited chief executive Kim Williams has received the Australian Subscription Television and Radio Association’s third annual ASTRA Pioneer Award.

The award, presented at that ASTRA conference in Sydney, recognises Mr William’s contribution to the subscription television industry during his 10-year tenure at Foxtel.

"One of the reasons I am most pleased is that it recognises that we have built a company and sector that is bigger, better and stronger than we found it,” Mr Williams told The Australian.

"We've created thousands of jobs for great Australian talent, and awarded both our viewers and our shareholders."

Mr Williams was appointed chief executive of News Limited Australia last November.
