The Victorian Government has announced Tim Bamford as Executive Director of Major Projects Victoria (MPV), tasking him with overseeing the state's more complex and important construction projects.

Mr Bamford comes to the role with extensive experience in project management, having held a series of senior management positions including his time as the Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Grand Prix Corporation.

Mr Bamford first joined MPV in 2008, having acted as Project Director of the flagship $363 million stage 1 redevelopment of Melbourne Park.

State Minister for ports Denis Napthine said he looked forward to working with Mr Bamford as MPV continued working on the Melbourne Park redevelopment as well as a number of other projects including the Flinders Street Station international design competition and the $288 million Centre for AgriBiosciences at Latrobe University.

Mr Bamford's appointment comes as John Wiles steps down from a year's work as the MPV's acting Executive Director.

MPV is part of the Department of Business and Innovation and provides project delivery services and advice to Victorian Government departments and other agencies in the delivery of complex, challenging and unique projects.

Amongst other projects MPV is currently delivering are the $128.5 million Hamer Hall upgrade and the E-Gate development in West Melbourne.
