The South Australian Government has announced the appointment of David Brown as the new Chief Executive of the Department for Correctional Services.

Mr Brown will replace Peter Severin, who will assume the role of Commissioner of Corrective Services in New South Wales after nine years in South Australia.

“Mr Brown brings a wealth of experience spanning two decades, culminating from his time as a Custodial Correctional Officer, to his leadership roles in both the public and private sectors,” State Minister for Correctional Services Jennifer Rankine said.

“Mr Brown has a vast range of experience – including managing a national contract between the Department of Immigration and Citizenship and private custodial company, G4S.”

Mr Brown will assume the position on 1 October.
