The Federal Government has announced the appointment of Bruce Gosper as the next Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Trade Commission.

Trade and Competitiveness Minister, Craig Emerson, said Mr Gosper was selected for his role for his extensive trade and commercial experience, having served as Deputy Secretary with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

Dr Emerson congratulated and thanked outgoing CEO, Peter Grey, for his 40 years of dedicated government service.

"Under Peter's direction, Austrade's resources have been more keenly focused on helping Australian businesses break into frontier and emerging markets, particularly in Asia," Dr Emerson said.

Mr Gosper will assume the role at the start of February next year.
