Distinguished former head of the Sydney Opera House, the Australia Council and Sydney Theatre Company, Michael Lynch has landed the chief executive role of Hong Kong’s West Kowloon Cultural District Authority.

His employment, expected to be formally announced in Hong Kong within days, will see him oversee the construction of the $2.6 billion cultural precinct at West Kowloon, due to open in 2015.

The construction of the precinct will see 17 cultural sites constructed and opened over a phase-in period from 2015.

Mr. Lynch’s employment in the position see’s him replace outgoing CEO Graham Sheffield, who has departed the role after six months amid rumors of health problems.
