ANZ has announced the appointment of Alistair Currie as the banking group’s new Chief Operating Officer, with overall responsibility for technology, shared services and operations , including ANZ’s Bangalore, Manila and Chengdu hubs.

 

Mr Currie will report directly to ANZ’s chief executive Mike Smith and has been tasked with accelerating the delivery of ANZ’s super regional strategy through an integrated approach to the company’s business transformation agenda in technology, shared services and operations.

 

Mr Currie’s appointment is effective from15 October and is subject to the completion of the necessary regulatory approvals.

 

Mr Currie has held senior positions with HSBC, where he was President and Chief Executive Officer of HSBC Taiwan, having previously held other senior roles through Asia, the Middle East and the United States.

 

CIO Anne Weatherston will report directly to Mr Currie, who is replacing outgoing COO David Cartwright.
