The Telethon Kids Institute is one of the nation's leading medical research organisations with impressive facilities in Nedlands, Western Australia. It is home to more than 700 staff and postgraduate students who are dedicated to tackling the major causes of childhood disease, disability and disadvantage. Our research teams are among the world's best and we have strong affiliations with Perth Children's Hospital and all the major Western Australian universities, particularly The University of Western Australia and Curtin University.

2018 saw the Telethon Kids Institute move to brand new premises within the new children's hospital building at the QEII Campus in Nedlands. The Institute is now co-located with Perth Children's Hospital and housed in state-of-the-art premises with increased space and improved access to leading edge technology and research facilities.

The Opportunity

In other organisations, you might be known as the Director of Major Gifts or the Director of New Business Development, but here you are known as the Senior Manager, Key Relationships responsible for leading and managing a successful major donor strategy.

This is permanent full time role, which is highly regarded and of major importance to Telethon Kids Institute.  We require a special someone, who is strong in conceptual thinking, interpersonal skills, determination, can work quickly and effectively and possesses a passion in advancing the urgent mission of Telethon Kids Institute. 

The Role

Working closely with the Head of Development and the team, you will identify, develop and manage relationships with individual and organisational stakeholders who are aligned to our vision of “happy health kids”.  You will be responsible for personally developing and managing a portfolio that raises monies to support the Institute’s research into a range of childhood diseases, disabilities, youth mental health and development health.

The Experience

You will be an astute, passionate and experienced relationship leader who thrives under pressure whilst handling competing priorities. The key to your success will be your demonstrated experience in creating a vision and strategy for building and cultivating meaningful relationships as well as:

• Extensive and demonstrable success in fundraising or business development, including minimum five years' experience at a senior level.
• Demonstrated ability to develop personal and corporate relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Experience working with high-level committees to deliver major financial outcomes.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, manage and work effectively in a complex and changing environment with at least five years' people management experience. 
• A strategic, creative and practical thinker and planner.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to understand donor motivations and develop targeted and appropriate engagement opportunities and proposals.
• Values led, authentic, genuine, dynamic and focussed with a high level of integrity.
• Essential relevant tertiary qualification.
