The Chief Information Officer (CIO) Group is a key component and enabler of the Department of Human Services strategic vision. The department's technology infrastructure, combined with its deep understanding and experience in delivering complex customer-focused services enables the CIO Group to shape the next generation of community services and lead best practice in service delivery.

The Adelaide Delivery Centre operates under a Professional Services model and comprises three branches; Compliance, Social Services and Professional Services. Under the Professional Services Model our workforce is organised into Practices, with the Practices constructed to respond to the demands placed upon the delivery centre. The Practices are Project Management, Analysis, Design, Development and Quality Assurance.

The Compliance and Social Services branches are accountable for the delivery of ICT projects using resources provided from the relevant Practices within the Professional Services branch.

Programme Director’s oversee and ensure the high quality and consistent delivery for the implementation of complex programmes and multiple projects of work. They are responsible for overseeing the management of the design, planning, development, implementation and evaluation of programmes.

Programme Director’s collaborate with peers, business counterparts and customers playing a key role in managing key strategic stakeholders across all tiers of government to drive the implementation and integration of projects at the operational level.

Programme Director’s operate with a high level of autonomy, with decision-making highly dependent on their own judgement. In performing a leadership role, they identify and drive innovation, manage and lead change, and has an active role in contributing to and implementing the department’s strategic direction.

Duties may include some or all of the following:

  • Oversee programme design, governance arrangements and operational integration ensuring programme deliverables and milestones are met on time and within budget
  • Develop, implement and evaluate programme plans and schedules in accordance with the department’s programme management framework and consider programme interdependencies
  • Identify, assess, manage, escalate, report and monitor programme risks, issues and benefits, including developing treatment strategies
  • Plan, manage and monitor financial budgets and oversee the management of contracts, procurement, resources and expenditure
  • Review and assess staff performance, providing performance and behavioural feedback as appropriate to the person and the relevant Practice Director
  • Provide high level strategic advice and feedback to stakeholders and the department's executive ensuring programme deliverables are fit for purpose and meet client needs.
